Farewell's are always hard

A few weeks back we hosted a farewell dinner for our seniors. Little did i think it would be such an emotional moment for us more than our seniors. Ever since i found my friends i have been regretting the day i will have to say goodbye to them. The farewell just made matters worse. I dont even know my seniors all that well expect maybe a few. Yet i felt so much sadness at the thought of their leaving. After all they were the only seniors from our own department. Seeing them in the labs talking to the teachers and having a good laugh was a common sight. The thought of the desolate labs sure is daunting. In fact its pretty much unimaginable.Even though i never had any conversations with them it was always a nice sight watching them pull each other's legs and the staff's as well. I sure will miss that. Feels like just yesterday when these guys were in second year. Now they are all grown up and ready to leave the haven of college life. They may go places and achieve new heights, yet there will be only one place they call home. A home where we had great friends in teachers and some of the best times of our lives. For me life beyond college is a scare. That's when we finally face the harsh realities of life and realise why our parents emphasized so much on our education. No teachers to help you correct your mistakes and no true friends to offer you suggestions( there might be the lucky few who do find good friends at thier workplace). You are totally on your own. One senior used to tell me his college life was pathetic and he couldn't wait to get out of college. And when that day finally came he was also in tears. There's always a fair share of good and bad. That's how life basically works. But the "good's" in college far outshadow the "bad's". That's why they call these the most enjoyable days of everyone's lives. Now as our seniors go on with their lives, i think of the age old question- Why do all good things have to come to an end? and i find i still have no answer and probably never will.
